The Owners

About Sonam and Chokey

Momo Ghar is the realization of a lifelong dream shared by Sonam and his wife, Chokey.

Arriving in Canada as refugees, the two met in high school and began their journey together, fueled by a passion for food and community.

Both pursued hotel management at George Brown College, but mid-semester, Sonam followed his heart into the kitchen, enrolling in culinary school to refine his skills.

Over the next decade, he honed his craft in Toronto’s fine dining scene, training under some of the city’s top chefs.

Today, Sonam pours his expertise into every dish at Momo Ghar, with Chokey supporting him every step of the way.

Together, they’ve created a space where their heritage and love for food come alive, sharing their story through every plate.

“Fresh and Delicious”

This was an absolutely amazing place. We had the Jhol and tandoori Momo.

The Jhol sauce was so good. The Tandoori Momo was spicy, tangy and the cilantro chutney on top added the freshness to it.

We also tried their Aloo chat and that was the right amount of spicy, tangy, sweet.

David's Been Here

This is the best tibetan food i’ve ever tried! 🥟

Chef Sonam is amazing! He blew us away with so many Momo dishes plus a bunch of surprises!

The special part about the food is that the chef makes a bunch of different spicy sauces.

Each plate brings the perfect heat, but when you eat all the plates i did you will be melting.. in a great way 🤤

The Jhol Momo is the best momo i’ve ever tried. Best Tibetan food ever!

One of the best and most famous Momo places in Toronto.

Momo is soo yummm. The taste is very close to what we find in the streets of Kathmandu, Nepal.

We went there on Sunday afternoon without booking.
